BGALA Meeting Minutes for April 10, 2007
At Baymont Inn
Jeremy Bratcher called the meeting to order. Dave Pleasant with Great Central Insurance/Neace Lukens was our speaker. He showed a PowerPoint Slideshow on Hotel Safety. Key items were Guest Safety and Customer Care, Property and Fire Safety, Crime Exposures, and Auto Fleet Operations.
Secretary & Treasurer’s report – The March meeting minutes were emailed. The current financial report was given to all those in attendance, showing a balance of $3698.12 after Buick Buyout and KTC dues.
CVB Report – Amy: There were 38,000 people in attendance at Houchens Sweet 16. KHSAA was extremely pleased. We are hosting an Amateur Disc Golf Tournament with 730 entries and Bowling Green will be hosting the Bluegrass State Games Softball Tournament in July. For all updates, visit bowlinggreensports.com.
Katie: Attractions Coupon Booklets and Key Folders should be ready any day now.
Duncan: Associates of Developmental Education will be here in November. We have attracted the Kawasaki motorcycles and are trying to get Kentucky Aviation Association.
Lost River report – Lost River not in attendance
National Corvette Museum report – NCM not in attendance.
Convention Center report – Report of upcoming events handed out to those in attendance. The new General Manager at the Holiday Inn was to start April 15.
Beech Bend report – Beech Bend not in attendance. They are planning a Match Race Mania Event on former NHRA weekend in June. This event will be one day only.
Old Business – Still need speakers for a couple of months. Possible Meth update at Police Station mentioned.
New Business – BGALA Board agreed to go ahead and pay Kentucky Tourism Council $2500 for October 2008 conference and the Buick Buyout of $2750. BGALA website finished and up @ www.bglodging.com. We have also voted to change the fiscal year for elected officials to mirror a calendar year. In October, we will nominate for positions and vote on the positions in November. December is the Association Christmas Party in lieu of a regular meeting and the new President, et al will be active in January.
The next meeting will be at the new Chamber of Commerce building on Wednesday, May 9, 2007. The Chamber staff will guide us on a tour of their new home.
