February 14, 2017 BGALA Meeting Minutes

President Michael Nunn Called the meeting to order.

ATTRACTIONS REPORT:

L&N

-reported they will be having several free events coming up; Story Time and all aboard events, as well as the Gallery Hop at the Railpark with the Sunny Sixteen Photo Club Exhibit.

-Brunch with a bunny is coming up!. Tickets go on sale in April to members and to the public on March 7th, more details to come and  L&N hopes for another awesome sellout event!

-L&N also introduced kiersten kellersberg, their new facility co-ordinator at the railpark. They are excited to bring more wedding events to Bowling Green!

Corvette Museum & Motorsports Park:

-Katie reported that all plant tours will end June 16 until further notice due to construction of the plant.

-GoKarts will open in March at the Motorsports Park. They will be $20.00 for a 8 minute ride. Must be 50″ or taller.

Holiday Inn Plaza/Sloan:

-reported all renovations are complete

Old Business:

-More info for Checkered Flag Chase will be coming soon. The BGALA hopes to sponsor more races, such as the Superhero 5k, in the future.

-Hospitality Olympics will be during the July Meeting in the open space next to TownePlace Suites. If anyone has a big grill we could use please contact Michael or Jenna.

– Committee sign-up sheets were passed around. There was a great turnout in the Philanthropy committee sign-ups. If you have any questions about the committees please contact Jenna Smith.

-Midsouth Wrestling will make a donation in exchange for volunteers for the mid south conference.

New Business:

-The 2017 BGALA Property of the Year Award will be picked by a non-biased member of the association. Records will be kept on participation, donations, etc. to determine the award winner. There will also be a new plaque with name plates of winner and the current winner for the year will keep plaque at their property as well as receive a $250 cash prize.

-Umpire room bids have been sent out. Any questions can be directed to Joy or Michael.

-The Corvette Museum proposed inviting international speaker Barbara Wold for her customer service training. BGALA will be the title sponsor paying $3,000 to host the conference. A vote by show of hands was taken by  attending members and there were no objections to spending $3,000 to be the title sponsor. This event will be March 21 and 22 and it is free to all BGALA members.

-The CVB stated Bowling Green is 41% full for the Eclipse Event in August.

-If you have rooms available for the 2019 Caravan contact Jenna.

Speakers:

-Kris White with Big Brothers Big Sisters Spoke about their upcoming fundraiser Bowl for Kid’s Sake. This event will be held in March. Kris announced that this year’s theme will be Harry Potter! For more information contact Kris or visit their webpage www.bbbsky.com

-Marissa Butler with the CVB presented their 3 year strategic plan. Contact Marissa or the CVB for more information.

The next meeting will be on March 14, 2017 at the NCM Motorsports Park.
