April 11, 2017 BGALA Meeting Minutes

Attractions Report:

CVB:

~The U.S. Tennis Association Mixed Doubles Competition was awarded to Bowling Green.

~NAIA has sold 900 room nights in May.

~Vintage Chevrolet Club of America will be coming to Bowling Green the 3rd week in July of 2021!

~There is a new Vineyard open in Smiths Grove on Scottsville Road! Bluegrass Vineyards opened on April 1st and will be open to the public on weekends!

~ The southbound I-65 rest area will be reopened by July 1st!

~ Marissa sent out emails about how to order solar eclipse glasses. Contact Marissa or Vickie for more information!

Historic Railpark

~Brunch with a Bunny will be April 15! 9 am slot is sold out but there are still 12pm slots available! Don’t miss out on this great event!

~The inaugural Sip n’ Put Mini Golf Tournament will be April 22nd! This event will be $30 per person. 25 team slots available! Family day on April 22nd!  There will be a corporate event sponsored by SOKY Jobs!   Visit the Rail Park’s Facebook page for more information!

~April 22nd is Girls day out!

~Many car shows coming in through the summer season.

~This year will be the last year for the United Methodist Convention!

~If you know of any groups or events you would like to try and help bring to Bowling Green contact Zach Phelps, Sloan Conventions New Sales Manager! Congratulations Zach!

Lost River Cave

~Magical Mansions even for kids will be held May 7th, this is a free event but 10$ donations are accepted!

~Adult Nature programs starting the 3rd weekend in April. More information available on their website!

~Nothing to report

New Business

~ There will be a Human Trafficking speaker looking for rooms in October, more information to come.

~Google street view team would like to meet with each property for information on their 360-degree street view photo technology!

Old Business:

~ BGALA will be sponsoring a race during the Checkered Flag Chase. We are still looking for a race in September or October to sponsor.

~Sign-up sheets for this year’s hospitality Olympics will be going out soon; there will be teams of 5 people.

~We are looking for vendor sponsors for prizes as well as looking at T-shirt designs so exact number of people attending is important!

~ Committee emails will be going out soon for first meeting dates and times.

Speakers:

Brad Harper with the Kentucky State Troopers gave us great information on how to prevent human trafficking/prostitution from happening at our properties.
