March 14, 2017 BGALA Meeting Minutes

Attractions Report:

CVB:

~Vicki Fitch announced they are currently working on bringing in new business for 2018.

~ There have been filming scouts contacting hotels for rooms; if you get contacted by film crews please contact Vickie Finch so she can get ahead of the significant KY State film incentives.

~Legislation Session updates: SB 50 that proposed to change the school year calendar passed the House and is now awaiting a signature from the Governor. This bill could bring more business in the summer and help our economy. Example: Beech Bend Park could stay open longer with their labor force not in school, which in return means more business and a longer season for hotels.

Historic Railpark & Train Museum

~Reminder! Current free events: Story Time and all aboard events, as well as the Gallery Hop at the Rail park with the Sunny Sixteen Photo Club Exhibit.

~Brunch with a Bunny will be April 15! Don’t miss out on this great event!

~The inaugural Sip n’ Put Mini Golf Tournament will be April 22nd! This event will be $30 per person. 25 team slots available! Family day on April 22nd!   Visit the Rail Park’s Facebook page for more information!

Hobson Grove

~Casual dinner dance the Hobson Hop will be March 25th! 13 seats available and they are $50.00 each!

~April 13th 11am-4pm they will be hosting the Garden Patch!! They will be teaching how to take care of your plants and seeds for spring and they will have beautiful flowers for sale just in time for Easter!

 Sloan

~The convention center has a lot of exciting things happening! The Kentucky VFW Convention as well as National Children’s Beauty Pageant Glamor Girls events are coming up.

~March 30 is the Taste of Bowling Green and April 22nd is Girls day out!

Old Business:

~ Joy presented the approved Bi-Laws. If you would like a copy, let her know and she can email you one!

~Promo Items that were purchased were presented. Joy presented the idea of a lodging association t-shirt for all of our events, Show of hands taken by attending members, No objections to moving forward. Let us know if you can or cannot wear them at your property!

~Bids for the 2017 Soft Ball Umpire rooms were awarded to Dharmi and Super 8 South!

~The CVB partnered with WKU for Solar Eclipse Glasses. You can find a picture on the CVB’s Facebook Page and let Vickie Know if you need any!
